'Dreamers of the Earth' Series
After a summer/autumn season of traveling with my art, I could finally relax into nature again, surrounded by beautiful creatures small and big, breathing each day with gratitude on this abundant earth.
Animal faces started showing up in my inner space. "Paint me, please!", said fox. "Oh, don't let me disappear into the misty meadows without mention!' said white deer.
To me, this is an unusual and equally magical journey. With a smile, I realize that, absolutely, I cannot define my art and lock it into any category. Abstract? Yes, at times. Realistic? Sure, why not? Everything in between? You name it. I find that places and spaces have a say in what 'comes through'. For instance, when I'm in Costa Rica, I find myself painting Goddess and deep earth imagery. My 2024 travel to the Golf coast brought abstract ocean paintings to life.
I have painted dragons, unicorns and phoenix, I have painted abstract, I
have painted angels and trees. Dreamscapes of fleeting beauty that
bring light and joy. I dance a dance with the earth and her
creatures, acknowledging them as they enter my space, crowned with deep
respect.
How to paint you, clans of the woods? What can I contribute to
you and to the earth and to those who can receive? How to convey the
playful trot of a red bushy-tailed fox? The ethereal beauty of that deer
so white that it makes legends in the Northern tales of the forests? So
close to unicorn and yet so different. How to convey the magic and
grace of these clans?
With my shamanic teachers, I learned to be quiet. To ask quest-ions
as the seeker. Be still. Lean into my knowing. Follow my body's
guidance. Oh so sweet the swirling energies and the blankness as I
approach the canvas. What colors? What's your energy, sacred furry
dancer? What can I receive?
As autumn closes into first whiteness, I enter sacred space. Sacred
tree-song space. Trees know the creatures of the forest. Frolic in their
exhilarated hunt, their family strongholds, courtship, solidarity and
fine line boundaries. Joy of the cycles. Waves of coming and going in
the indefiniteness of living.
So, I lifted my paint soaked brushes and began. Surprised at the
depth of my journey with Forest Devas, I layered the shades, shapes and
hues. Have you ever looked into an animal's eye? A wild animal's eye?
Space of being. Pure. Such freedom from judgment. Such presence. A
direct invitation, so wide and open that the entire universe fits into
their gaze. Strong.
As I breathe life into the unfolding, they breathe life into me. I'm
moving with a very simple sense of celebration and honor. Crowning the
clans of the forest lands with my gifts of flowers, pine cones, seeds
and gold. The series is evolving. What will show up is beyond control.
Like the Forest.
Here is the challenge for you all: Don't forget these clans.
Don't forget the forest. We still stand strong. And we need ALL of YOU
to join us in our standing on the land. Be bold as a sparrow. Courageous
as a wolf.
First, I painted 'Dancing Fox', followed
by 'Noble Deer' and 'Majestic Wolf'. 'Sacred Buffalo' is the fourth painting.
And I'm not done yet. So,
my question to you is: What Forest Clan would you like to see me paint
next? I'd like to hear from you.
All
the originals are size 12x12 inches, painted with acrylics on canvas. I
added the first three paintings to the gallery, for you to take a look at
different sizes and versions of prints (paper, canvas, metal, wood).
