'Phoenix for a New World' by Bettina Madini

“There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story.” ~ Linda Hogan

What if we were Stewards of the Earth?
And what would this mean?

Mankind has been trained into being the beneficiaries of the earth, of nature, on a one-way street of taking what nature provides.

If we were Stewards of the Earth, we would also be trustees. We would take care and make sure that nature thrives. We would harvest with care and benevolence. We would be grateful for nature. We would consider what our choices create for the future, for the next seven generations.

If and when we function from THAT space, what will be given to us in res-ponse, freely and joyfully, will be what we call miracles.

'Gardens of Gold', by Bettina Madini

Everything has a secret soul, which is silent more often than it speaks.” ~ Wassily Kandinsky

It is that silence of nature that inspires me.

Have you noticed? The sounds of wind, winged and four-legged creatures, water or dry leaves swirling and rustling in the soft air. A whispered earth invitation to simply BE.

Breathe deeply. Go outside. And make space for your body and being. The earth will take you on a journey of color and sound. And isn't she so creative, our beautiful planet, with all kinds of creatures big and small, tall trees, tiny ferns and seeds deeply hidden in their cocoon?

Then, shift your vision. A fallen tree will turn into a host for life. A thick layer of ice on a lake will turn into a miracle of ingenious patterns and shades of greys, blues and purples. Dry flower stalks turn into space-holders for spring's renewed cycle.

And so as we change our vision, we change. We become a host for life, a miracle of ingenious patterns and a space-holder for spring.

Much gratitude,
Bettina

This series has been an unfolding journey, each animal leading me deeper into the forest. The fox emerged first—playful, mischievous, and full of life. Then came the deer, graceful and ethereal, with a quiet strength. And with every brushstroke, I discover more about them, more about myself, and more about the sacred dance between artist and nature.
Do you feel the magic in the brushstrokes? Can you hear the whispers of the trees and creatures?

A New Series of Paintings: 'Dreamers of the Earth'

'Dreamers of the Earth' Series

After a summer/autumn season of traveling with my art, I could finally relax into nature again, surrounded by beautiful creatures small and big, breathing each day with gratitude on this abundant earth.

Animal faces started showing up in my inner space. "Paint me, please!", said fox. "Oh, don't let me disappear into the misty meadows without mention!' said white deer.

To me, this is an unusual and equally magical journey. With a smile, I realize that, absolutely, I cannot define my art and lock it into any category. Abstract? Yes, at times. Realistic? Sure, why not? Everything in between? You name it. I find that places and spaces have a say in what 'comes through'. For instance, when I'm in Costa Rica, I find myself painting Goddess and deep earth imagery. My 2024 travel to the Golf coast brought abstract ocean paintings to life.

I have painted dragons, unicorns and phoenix, I have painted abstract, I have painted angels and trees. Dreamscapes of fleeting beauty that bring light and joy. I dance a dance with the earth and her creatures, acknowledging them as they enter my space, crowned with deep respect.

How to paint you, clans of the woods? What can I contribute to you and to the earth and to those who can receive? How to convey the playful trot of a red bushy-tailed fox? The ethereal beauty of that deer so white that it makes legends in the Northern tales of the forests? So close to unicorn and yet so different. How to convey the magic and grace of these clans?

With my shamanic teachers, I learned to be quiet. To ask quest-ions as the seeker. Be still. Lean into my knowing. Follow my body's guidance. Oh so sweet the swirling energies and the blankness as I approach the canvas. What colors? What's your energy, sacred furry dancer? What can I receive?

As autumn closes into first whiteness, I enter sacred space. Sacred tree-song space. Trees know the creatures of the forest. Frolic in their exhilarated hunt, their family strongholds, courtship, solidarity and fine line boundaries. Joy of the cycles. Waves of coming and going in the indefiniteness of living.

So, I lifted my paint soaked brushes and began. Surprised at the depth of my journey with Forest Devas, I layered the shades, shapes and hues. Have you ever looked into an animal's eye? A wild animal's eye? Space of being. Pure. Such freedom from judgment. Such presence. A direct invitation, so wide and open that the entire universe fits into their gaze. Strong.

As I breathe life into the unfolding, they breathe life into me. I'm moving with a very simple sense of celebration and honor. Crowning the clans of the forest lands with my gifts of flowers, pine cones, seeds and gold. The series is evolving. What will show up is beyond control.

Like the Forest.

Here is the challenge for you all: Don't forget these clans. Don't forget the forest. We still stand strong. And we need ALL of YOU to join us in our standing on the land. Be bold as a sparrow. Courageous as a wolf.

First, I painted 'Dancing Fox', followed by 'Noble Deer' and 'Majestic Wolf'. 'Sacred Buffalo' is the fourth painting.

And I'm not done yet. So, my question to you is: What Forest Clan would you like to see me paint next? I'd like to hear from you.

All the originals are size 12x12 inches, painted with acrylics on canvas. I added the first three paintings to the gallery, for you to take a look at different sizes and versions of prints (paper, canvas, metal, wood).

A World of Peace

‘World of Peace’

The world I know is possible.

How do we create it? By our choices. Each small choice, each big choice. It IS already. We don’t need to defend it. Because it IS. And that ‘isness’ is changing and becoming.

The importance is whether we walk in possibility or impossibility. Self mastery is beyond the comfort zone. Why? Because comfort always comes from the necessity of making ourselves unaware. And when we make ourselves unaware, we create the slowness of how the world we know is possible can show up.

Change creates discomfort, at times. But it’s temporary.

I know a world of peace is possible. Before peace can show up, though, un-peace has to be transmuted.

And, we can have our world of peace and be the invitation while the rest of the world is making their choices. It's helpful to recognize that a lot of people don’t choose peace (yet). And cannot receive it (yet).
We can have peace with that knowing.

The one that will gladly receive it right now is the earth. And all her creatures.

Are you willing to have it and be it?

The Water Song - Interpreted by Bettina Star Rose Madini

I came across 'The Water Song' by the Algonquin and created my interpretation of it. This song is my dedication of sacred music to the Great Lakes and all bodies of water on the Earth. I created the images of Lake Michigan and an entirely spring-fed lake in the Great Lakes region. A spring-fed lake. What does this mean? There is no river flowing into the lake, but water from the ground, at 6 locations in and around the lake is feeding into this body of water. It runs off into the Fox River, one of the few rivers on the earth flowing North.

Water is sacred. Water is knowing. Water is consciousness. We can be without food for some time, but not without water. Water is taken for granted. It is a gift. It is life-giving.

As you listen to The Water Song and watch the imagery, allow the sound, words, sparkles, glistening water crystals and vibrations enter your body and purify the waters in your body, as it also purifies the waters of the earth body, as it echoes and resonates into all there is and un-does the abuse and distortions of water element.

Water has memory, water receives, water conducts. As you watch and listen to the video bless the waters and send it your gratitude. You are powerful. You can change anything. And if we all join hands and beings in this, we change the future for the earth and for all of us. And as you bless the waters they bless you. As you bless the earth, the earth blesses you. As you bless your body your body blesses you.

Receive the light of the sun amplified by the waters. It is a dance. We purify distortions, disruptions, discordance and de-structuring.

The conductive quality of water has been abused to transfer discordant energies into the waterlines, rivers, lakes and underground, deep-earth water systems of the planet. We are changing this now.

Thank you very much for watching. Feel free to share. Our voices need to heard. Words carry energy. Human voice carries frequencies, tones and overtones.

I have studied voice and native american healing song. I hope the video is a contribution to you. Know that you are not alone. Receive what is there for you to receive.

Thank you to the Algonquin Nation for bringing forth the song.
